Tips for new authors:

  1. Create a Word document or Google document as per Cureus guidelines. If your parent document is accurate, you can complete the submission within a few minutes. If not, it takes a lot of time.
  2. Run a plagiarism check before submission and only submit it if it is less than 15%.
  3. Please use grammar-checking software to enhance the manuscript content and flow. If inadequate, you will be deferred for third-party language editing.
  4. If it is original research, always have a structured abstract, up to ten keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusion, appendix (if any), and references formatted as per guidelines.
  5. Make sure that all the images are of high resolution and more than 900 pixels in width.
  6. If they are graphs, make sure that the x-axis and y-axis have annotations.
  7. If it is a table or flowchart, ensure that it is of uniform formatting in the parent document, Microsoft Excel, or Google Sheets
  8. Ensure that there are no spelling mistakes within the document or uploaded images.
  9. If it is a review article, infographics and flowcharts will help the readers.
  10. If it is a case report, please add relevant case images, radiographs or laboratory investigations, histopathology, treatment and follow-up pictures, or tabulated data for authenticity.
  11. Create a Cureus profile of all the authors with proper affiliations. It simplifies the submission when you search for co-authors with their email addresses to include them.
  12. Do not invite medical students or your family members as reviewers.
  13. Make sure that the figure legends, table legends, and other content are ready to be pasted while uploading the media content.
  14. Add a paragraph on the limitations of your manuscript and a note on future research scope on the topic
  15. When queries are raised by the editorial team or reviewers, please address them honestly and do not attempt to falsify data.
