About
Klonopin belongs to a class of medications known as benzodiazepines, which are primarily prescribed for their anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing), anticonvulsant, and muscle relaxant properties. When taken, Klonopin acts on the central nervous system by enhancing the effects of a neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). This results in a calming effect on the brain, which can help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, panic disorders, seizures, and certain other conditions.
