Prof. Hakki Muammer Karakas, MD., a global opinion leader in high performance imaging services and healthcare digitalization, is the Chairman of Public Imaging Services for Istanbul Province. Under his authority over 1/200h of world’s radiological services are being performed.

He is the Chairman of Radiology at FSM Research and Training Hospital, Istanbul, and a professor of radiology at Health Sciences University of Turkey.

He is a nonvascular interventional radiologist with an in-depth expertise on advanced ultrasound applications -including fusion imaging, elastography and slow motion Doppler imaging, and advanced MRI systems. He has also worked as a neuroradiologist at Bonn University, Germany; as a neuroscientist at Forschungzentrum Julich GmbH, Germany, and at Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council.

He has over 500 scientific publications and over 2300 scientific citations. He received over 20 national and international awards for outstanding scientific research and technological R&D, among which European Society of Neuroradiology Award for his contribution to the development of multimodal EEG/ERP-MRI technology.

He has served in various academic, public and private institutions as physician and/or administrator and has in-depth experience in quality management, high performance management models, public private partnerships (PPP/PFI), healthcare architecture and medical IT.

He serves as the member of advisory board and/or luminary board for various multinational corporations and governments and as an expert to International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna.
