Professor Dr Shahid Jamal graduated from Nishtar Medical College in 1983 and after house job joined Pakistan Army. He did his grading in Pathology in 1989 with grade of
B +. He got his training of FCPS in histopathology at AFIP, Pakistan and passed histopathology FCPS with honour of two gold medals, Burki Gold medals for securing highest marks amongst the students of all specialties appearing in March 1993 CPSP examination and Iftikhar Gold medal for securing highest marks in the subject of histopathology. He got his training of FNA and cytology from Charing Cross Hospital London UK, under Professor Naomi Livni, the renowned cytopathologist of UK. He worked in different hospitals of Pakistan army, AFIP, Rawalpindi Pakistan and joined as the faculty member of Army Medical College, National university of Sciences and technology in 2006. He is recognized supervisor of FCPS in histopathology, CPSP Pakistan and has supervised number of students both as supervisor and co-supervisor. He is also supervisor of MPhil histopathology of NUST Islamabad. He is examiner at AM College and number of other medical colleges as well as universities. He is also member faculty Department of Medical Education of AM College and in that capacity he has conducted a number of educational workshops for the faculty and students. He is outstanding teacher and is highly respected by both, undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has got special interest for the medical research in the subject of histopathology. He has more than 80 research publications in both national and international medical journals. His scholarly work on the subject of breast carcinoma, Lymphoma and esophageal carcinoma is highly appreciated through Pakistan and also abroad. He also wrote a monograph on the subject of, Pattern of malignant tumours: An analysis of ten years data from tumour registry Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Rawalpindi, Pakistan (1992-2001). He has presented a number of research papers in the national and international medical conferences. Presently he working as professor of pathology (Histopathology) and Head of department at Watim Medical College, Rawalpindi, Pakistan
