About
I have finished my PhD (Feb. 2017) under Dr. Shubha R Phadke, Department of Medical Genetics, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Science Lucknow and collaboration with King Georgeโs Medical University Lucknow, India. During my PhD, I worked on polymorphisms in CX3CR1, PLEKHA1 and VEGF genes as potential risk factors for age related macular degeneration (AMD) in the Indian population. The research article communicated out of this study has been published in Archives of Medical Research. Along with this study I have also studied several polymorphisms in CFH, ARMS2 and HTRA1 in related to AMD. The polymorphisms in APOE and VEGF genes associated with AMD were also done and various important bioinformatics tools were used for analyzing the data. The article on VEGF has been published in the Journal of Meta Gene.
Apart of my PhD thesis, I have worked on many rare Mendelian single gene disorders including Menkes Kinky hair disease (X linked recessive) has been published in AJMG Part A, Rett Syndrome (X linked Dominant) and Brooke Spiegler syndrome (Autosomal Dominant). I had also made some effort to unravel the genetic etiology of Camptosynpolydactyly, Phadke type; Wilms Tumor, Nephrotic syndrome, Agnathia- Otocephaly Complex; Growth Differentiation Factor 1.
I am interested to work on Human Genetics & Genomics, Molecular Genetics, Statistical Genetics, Acquired and Inherited Eye Disease, Age Related Diseases (Alzheimer Disease Parkinson disease) Cancer Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, Genome wide association studies (GWAS) of multifactorial disorders and the disorders with Oligogenic inheritance. Also, I am interested in studying rare monogenic disorders (preferably exome sequencing followed by functional studies) whose genetic etiology has not yet been identified.
