Background/Highlight

Dr. David R. Brown is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He leads the team that developed the award-winning Green Family Foundation Neighborhood Health Education Learning Program (NeighborhoodHELP), an interprofessional, community-engaging program that integrates social and behavioral care with primary care.

Dr. Brown helped launch the first Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine graduate medical education program—the West Kendall Baptist Hospital-FIU Family Medicine Residency.

His research employs qualitative, mixed, and participatory methods in the study of social determinants of health, competency-based education, population health, and integrating social and behavioral services into health care. Dr. Brown currently serves as chair of the entrustment workgroup of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Core Entrustable Professional Activities Pilot.
