I am a UK Consultant in anaesthesiology and pre-hospital emergency medicine. I retired from the National Health Service in 2009 and now focus my professional career on being a senior flight clinician on the Thames Valley Air Ambulance. I am a member of the International Olympic Committee Medical and Scientific Games Group with responsibility for the provision of emergency medicine and attend both summer and winter Olympic Games. I hold the role of Queen's (Honorary) Physician and received her personal award as a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO).
I was a founder member of the Resuscitation Council (UK), the European Resuscitation Council and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and currently co-chair the ILCOR First Aid Task Force. I have authored approximately 150 publications related to anaesthesiology, resuscitation, field of play emergency medicine and pre-hospital medicine.
