About

Ally Mwambela is a Tanzanian clinician–researcher, health systems advocate, and youth leader committed to advancing equitable, patient-centered care across Africa. As Founder and President of the Tanzania One Health Access Network (TOHAN), he leads interdisciplinary initiatives at the intersection of clinical medicine, public health, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), maternal and child health, and digital health innovation.
Currently an MD Candidate at St. Francis University College of Health and Allied Sciences (SFUCHAS), Ally brings over five years of frontline clinical experience, building on his background as a Clinical Officer and his recognition for excellence in outpatient care delivery. His work integrates clinical practice with research and community engagement, having led and contributed to over 20 research initiatives, with outputs spanning AMR, HIV/TB, maternal and child health, and mental health. His community health programs have reached more than 50,000 individuals across Tanzania.
A multi-award-winning scholar, Ally has received honors for academic excellence and research innovation, including recognition from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences and national and regional platforms. He is an Erasmus Exchange Program participant at the University of Bologna, an Africa CDC Youth Digital Health Champion, and an AMR Leadership Fellow with ReAct Africa. His leadership extends across youth and professional networks, where he contributes to capacity building, research mentorship, and global health dialogue.
Ally’s work bridges clinical excellence with global health diplomacy, advancing health systems strengthening through research, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration. He is particularly driven by the vision of building resilient, people-centered healthcare systems in Africa and amplifying youth leadership in shaping the future of global health.
