Abstract
While the prevalence of various dermatologic journals on social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn are increasing, the activity of dermatologic journal podcasting has yet to be investigated. To determine journal social media impact, on June 2, 2012 we examined over 102 journals listed by SciMago (www.scimagojr.com/) for any podcast activity on the internet. Fewer dermatology journals are podcasting than are active on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn. Most of the dermatology podcasts on the internet are associated with educational resources. Currently, there is no information regarding the number of times each podcast has been listened to in order to gauge the popularity of the individual podcasts.
